LA MARCA DEL HORROR (FIRMA DEL DICTADOR AUGUSTO PINOCHET TATUADA SOBRE PALMA DE LA MANO) 2023
La firma es el símbolo gráfico que constituye una identidad. La firma del dictador es la firma de la dictadura, es la marca del horror. Esa firma es y será siempre una herida. Al inscribir la marca en el cuerpo, se deja grabada en la memoria.
Se entienden las manos como las partes del cuerpo que ejecutan una acción, las que materialmente y simbólicamente construyen presente y porvenir. Los tatuajes en las palmas de las manos, por el constante uso de estas mismas, tienden a perder fuerza, nitidez y lo definido de su forma. La obra busca que la firma vaya deteriorándose-modificándose con el tiempo, a partir del uso de la mano, es decir, que vaya destiñéndose y disipándose a causa de las acciones. Borrar la herencia fascista y neoliberal de nuestras vidas con nuestros actos, entendiendo de igual forma, que la marca de los hechos acontecidos es permanente.
El poder y la influencia de la dictadura cívico militar sigue vigente en todo lo que hacemos y cómo nos relacionamos con el mundo. De ahí también la mano como lugar elegido para llevar la marca, pensándose como medio de contacto.
HE MARK OF HORROR (SIGNATURE OF THE DICTATOR AUGUSTO PINOCHET TATTOOED ON THE PALM OF THE HAND) 2023
The signature is the graphic symbol that constitutes an identity. The dictator’s signature is the signature of the dictatorship; it is the mark of horror. That signature is and will always be a wound. By inscribing the mark on the body, it is imprinted in memory.
Hands are understood as the parts of the body that carry out actions, the ones that materially and symbolically construct the present and the future. Tattoos on the palms of the hands, due to the constant use of these same hands, tend to lose strength, clarity, and definition of form. The work seeks for the signature to deteriorate or change over time, through the use of the hand — that is, to fade and disperse as a result of actions. To erase the fascist and neoliberal legacy from our lives through our acts, understanding, in the same way, that the mark of past events is permanent.
The power and influence of the civic-military dictatorship remains present in everything we do and in how we relate to the world. Hence the hand as the chosen place to carry the mark, conceived as a medium of contact.
