EN LA HISTORIA NO HAY EQUILIBRIO (2024)​​

Acción de intentar mantener el cuerpo en equilibrio encima de un casco militar que se encuentra volteado sobre el suelo. El acto se repite reiteradas veces. A medida que el gesto se va realizando, van apareciendo junto a la imagen ocho definiciones que el diccionario determina/decreta de la palabra equilibrio. Las definiciones entregadas dialogan de diversas maneras en relación a la acción acontecida y se contextualizan en el entendimiento y vinculación con procesos históricos/políticos/sociales, en la ocupación de términos como: estado, cuerpo, fuerza, destrucción, contrarrestar, armonía, mesura, juicios, intervención, prudencia, etc. Las definiciones operan como detonadoras en cuanto al entendimiento del poder como la base del control social, determinando la imposición de éste, la nula existencia de “equilibrio”.

 

“EN LA HISTORIA NO HAY EQUILIBRIO” genera un diálogo directo entre poder e historia, entendiendo que el poder, a través de la explotación, matanza, ordenanza y herramientas de dominación, crea narrativas y “verdades históricas” atenuadas a sus lógicas e intereses, relativizando su mecanismo avasallador y condenando actos emancipatorios.

​THERE IS NO EQUILIBRIUM IN HISTORY (2024)

 

​An action of attempting to keep the body balanced on top of a military helmet turned upside down on the ground. The act is repeated over and over again.

As the gesture unfolds, eight definitions of the word “equilibrium,” as determined/decreed by the dictionary, appear alongside the image. The definitions enter into dialogue in various ways with the action taking place and are contextualized through their relation to historical, political, and social processes, as well as through the use of terms such as: state, body, force, destruction, counterbalance, harmony, moderation, judgments, intervention, prudence, etc. The definitions operate as triggers for understanding power as the basis of social control, determining its imposition and the nonexistence of “equilibrium.”

“THERE IS NO EQUILIBRIUM IN HISTORY” establishes a direct dialogue between power and history, understanding that power, through exploitation, killing, regulation, and tools of domination, constructs narratives and “historical truths” aligned with its own logics and interests, relativizing its overwhelming mechanisms and condemning emancipatory acts.
