EL DICTADOR NO HA MUERTO (2025)
 

Intervención al vídeo donde Carlos Arias Navarro “el carnicero” anuncia la muerte de Franco y lee en televisión el testamento político del dictador, el 20 de noviembre de 1975.

El vídeo es editado para que el testamento se mantenga en la tensión entre comenzar a ser leído y no.

En forma de loop, se repite de manera constante el gesto de abrir y guardar el sobre que contiene el papel con las palabras de Franco.

El título de la obra es una referencia directa a la frase de Arias Navarro durante la transmisión: “Españoles, Franco ha muerto”. Comprendiendo la raíz del documento como palabras escritas en el lecho de muerte, se usa el bucle como negación de un discurso que no llega a ser pronunciado. Así, se subvierte la idea de la muerte del modelo dictatorial y, al mismo tiempo, se ejerce una oposición a su última voluntad.

THE DICTATOR HAS NOT DIED (2025)

Intervention on the video in which Carlos Arias Navarro, “the butcher,” announces Franco’s death and reads the dictator’s political testament on television on November 20, 1975.
The video is edited so that the testament remains in the tension between beginning to be read and not.
In the form of a loop, the gesture of opening and putting away the envelope containing the paper with Franco’s words is constantly repeated.

The title of the work is a direct reference to Arias Navarro’s phrase during the broadcast: “Spaniards, Franco is dead.” Understanding the document’s origin as words written on the deathbed, the loop is used as a denial of a discourse that never comes to be spoken. In this way, the idea of the death of the dictatorial model is subverted and, at the same time, an opposition to his last will is enacted.
